As mentioned in Staff News, qualified solicitor, Isabel Roszlowski has joined the firm’s London office from the London office of US firm, Cooley where she gained considerable experience in tech deals and corporate work. Isabel enjoys the challenge of working with start-ups and high growth companies and is interested in other aspects of commercial work including insolvency, commercial contracts and gaming. She also spent a six month secondment to Amazon where she was part of a two person team working on the roll out of Amazon Fresh. I am delighted to have Isabel on board to help develop the firm’s practice in London.
The practice in London is very similar to what the firm does in Edinburgh as a result of having a significant focus on corporate finance work for growing companies and their investors. For many years the firm has undertaken funds work (almost exclusively in London) and the London practice now also provides considerable restructuring and insolvency expertise. 2016 has been a very busy year in London and there have been over a dozen substantial transactions run out of the London office. A number of these transactions have involved Edinburgh based colleagues providing additional transaction support which ensures that we can run London transactions on very competitive terms as part of using a ‘north shoring’ model. This has been welcomed by a number of the firm’s clients and is one of our key USP’s.
Many of our clients based in London or within commuting distance of London are delighted that we now have a dedicated team located on their doorsteps in Piccadilly which is in the heart of the investment community. Indeed we now share an office at Piccadilly with two of our funds clients and we would like to pass on our thanks for all of their encouragement and support since we moved in with them at the start of 2016. We have recently welcomed a number of clients into our office as part of hosting a “Big Data” workshop and if you would like to drop in and see us then please do let me know.
Looking forward into 2017, there are plenty of opportunities and we are very excited. Corporate finance and investment work in the tech and high growth sectors remains positive and we are working on a pipeline of new funds and M&A transactions.
