The Conference was attended by delegates from law firms that are prominent in their own countries for litigating against banks. One law firm per jurisdiction is invited to join the network and MBM were delighted to have been selected to represent Scotland in the Network. There were delegates from as far East as Russia to as far West as the Cayman Islands. Flags representing each country definitely gave an UN feeling to the whole event.
During the day-long conference, delegates from each country discussed the challenges they face in their respective countries when litigating against banks and other financial institutions. There was particular knowledge and experience sharing on topics such as economic duress, disclosures and litigation funding.
The day was finished off with a lovely dinner at The Delauanay in Covent Garden and a vivid debate about the location of the next conference. The Spanish delegates were definitely one of the front runners with their offer to host the next conference at the Real Madrid FC stadium.
