As many of you will be aware, I am MBM Commercial's new Head of Employment, having joined the firm on 1 May 2012.
To give you an idea of my background, I deal with all aspects of employment law from advising on the employment points of mergers and acquisitions (including TUPE), strategic advice on executive exits, Compromise Agreements, Terms and Conditions of Employment, unfair dismissals, redundancies, whistle-blowing, unlawful discrimination and family friendly rights. Throughout my many years of experience as an employment lawyer, I have acted for employees and executives as well as employers in relation to non-contentious matters such as contractual and policy issues as well as representing clients at the Employment Tribunal. In relation to employers, I specialise in providing advice to SMEs, high-growth companies, spin-out and start-up companies, as well as charitable and not-for- profit organisations.
As the employers amongst you will know, employment law is constantly changing and it is challenging for businesses to keep on top of it whilst focussing on the day job! The employment legislation can often seem complex, burdensome and costly for small businesses in particular and my aim is to listen to your objectives and explain the law to you in a clear and concise fashion whilst giving pragmatic advice. Employment litigation is sometimes unavoidable but the Employment Tribunal system can be protracted and expensive and my aim is to keep as many of the firm's clients out of it as possible!
MBM Commercial has made it easier than ever to comply with employment law and minimise the risk of claims through our fixed fee employment law package, The Employment Portal. The package has three levels. Level 1 gives employers 24 hour online access to a complete suite of practical and easy to understand employment and HR templates, documents, advice and knowhow for a very competitive annual fee. Level 2 gives unlimited access to The Portal described above together with 12 hours of employment advice from me or my colleague and fellow employment lawyer, Hayley Anderson, again for a highly competitive fixed fee. Level 3 offers the services of levels 1 and 2 together with a comprehensive employment liabilities insurance scheme giving protection and peace of mind against the costs arising from employment disputes for a fixed fee based on the number of employees in your business. The package allows businesses to budget without compromising on the quality of advice, which is provided by qualified employment lawyers.
More information about The Employment Portal, including the fixed fees, is set out on MBM Commercial's website at https://mbmcommercial.co.uk/employment_portal
