A quick post today just to draw your attention to a new website that has launched called Scot-Buzz.
It’s been launched by renowned award-winning financial journalist Bill Jamieson. If you’ve ever read the business press, you can’t have failed to have come across Bill’s writings over the years, with awards including Business Journalist of the Year, Journalist of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Scottish Press Awards over the years.
Over to Bill:
- I’ve launched Scot-Buzz to encourage business start-up and investment in Scotland. I will use mischief and humour where appropriate. But my purpose is serious. Scot-Buzz has one unswerving commitment. This is to champion Scotland’s SME sector and to pursue campaigns that put Scotland first.
- There is one lesson I have learnt. And it is backed up with a ton of research. Time and again it’s the small business sector that has led this country out of recession. Small firms are great business drivers. They are adaptable, dynamic, innovative and opportunistic. Truly, without a thriving SME sector, our chances of getting out of recession are slim indeed.
It’s fair to say that MBM shares Bill’s views on the importance of the sector - members of the MBM have focused on helping high growth companies to succeed for over twenty years. We were fortunate to benefit from Bill’s insightful commentary during our successful ‘Growth Series’ events which we held back in 2009 in association with the University of Edinburgh Business School. I’ve reattached the summary report of the four debates on stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship for any of you who may not have seen this at the time.
I’d encourage you all to check the website out as it develops.
