Yesterday evening I listened to an inspiring presentation by Anthony Gerrard, the founder of www.badidea.org.uk.
It takes a lot of courage to stand in front of an audience and suggest that our educational system, which was originally designed for the industrial age 200 years ago, has not adapted sufficiently to meet the demands of a constantly changing world and is not fit for purpose.
He ran a video clip containing some very sobering statistics which is available when looking at the website on a mobile device.
A “job for life” is a faint memory from a bygone age and, in a constantly changing world, creativity, communication, innovation and lateral thinking are the essential core skills we need to survive and thrive.
Please take a few minutes to click on the above link and look at the video clip. It provides much food for thought when you are thinking about what careers advice you might give to your children and/or grandchildren.
