We are delighted to note that Celtic Renewables has been successful in securing a major grant of £11m from the UK Department for Transport (DfT). This follows the company recently being named the most innovative biotech SME in Europe. The DfT grant, which was one of three such awards, was the biggest award made by DfT as part of its Advanced Biofuels Demonstration competition.
The grant will help the company build the world’s first biofuel plant dedicated to the production of advanced biofuel from the residues of the whisky industry. The facility will be operational by December 2018, producing at least one million litres of biofuel, capable of powering cars, every year. MBM are delighted to have advised Celtic Renewables on the legal aspects of the grant and look forward to working with the company to help them realise their future plans.
