Why MBM Commercial?

Here are some views on MBM Commercial from existing staff:

“I joined MBM Commercial in September 2017 having decided that I wanted to be a lawyer at a firm which truly understood the needs of start-up companies, investors and people across the UK and further afield that wanted to build and develop businesses.  I wanted to pursue the same mission that MBM Commercial pursues every day; that of being "Entrepreneurial Lawyers for Entrepreneurial Businesses".

I was already very familiar with MBM Commercial, having worked for a number of years in the early stage company sector. I have always been impressed by the firm's ethos of not only advising entrepreneurs but engaging with clients and the market place in an entrepreneurial fashion. MBM Commercial has long been well established as the go-to firm for start-ups with long standing client relationships with key players in the Scottish and UK entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Since joining the firm I have discovered that the approach of the firm and each of its staff is highly motivated and focused on achieving results for clients that aim to be nothing short of awesome.”
Alexander Lamley, Director, Corporate Group (joined September 2017)

Employee Share Incentives solicitor or paralegal, (part-time/flexible working), MBM Commercial LLP, Edinburgh

MBM Commercial is a market leading provider of legal and commercial services to investors, entrepreneurs and high growth companies.  We are an innovative and growing business and looking for the successful candidate to join our Corporate Group with an exclusive focus on employee share incentives.

In the 15 years since the firm was set up, employee share incentives have become an increasingly important service for our high growth client companies.  The firm has concentrated its knowledge and experience within an Options Team for a number of years, with a small pool of corporate lawyers operating under the supervision of a partner and a director.  The new position is the first exclusively options focussed role within Options Team.

The position is not presumed to require a full time role initially and would lend itself to flexible or part time working for anything from 2 to 4 days full time equivalent.  The role may be well suited to someone returning to private practice after some time out and, while relevant experience is preferred,  full training can be offered to a candidate with sufficient corporate/company law experience.  There is no limitation on the ability for the role to grow in time.

You will be working with Scottish and English companies and while you will not be asked to become involved in general corporate transactional work, you will have a key role in developing the Options Team and initiating improvements to ensure an optimal client experience is delivered, with all available operational efficiencies.  You will have the opportunity to build relationships with clients and contacts and develop your network, while working closely with the firm’s tax advisers, who are specialists in advising on the relevant tax issues surrounding employee incentives.

We are looking for someone with a confident and positive ‘can do’ attitude with excellent communication skills who is capable of dealing with clients directly on day to day basis (with senior support always available to help you).

While the level of PQE experience is not limited to any particular range and employee share options experience is not essential, to apply for this role you should have worked within a corporate team at a recognised firm or within a corporate oriented in-house team.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for the role.  This includes an annual bonus scheme, BUPA, commission for new client wins and flexi-time.  To apply, please send a CV and current salary details to Linda Hutton at linda.hutton@mbmcommercial.co.uk
