People Update

We are pleased to announce the following promotions from 1 April in the firm's corporate and dispute resolution teams.

In the firm’s Corporate team, Caroline Urban, who is based in the firm’s London office, is promoted to Director.  As well as working with a wide range of corporate clients, Caroline heads up the firm’s German desk and co-hosts MBM’s M&A Snack and Chat podcast.

Hannah Brazel is promoted to Senior Associate. Hannah works on a wide variety of transactional and advisory work including M&A, loan and equity investment deals. She was also a key member of the firm’s Digital Team and was a key contributor in setting up the firm’s Digital Deals Hub in 2020.

Also, in the Corporate team, Laura Currie is promoted to Assistant Company Secretary. Laura assists in incorporating new companies, filing annual Confirmation Statements, writing up the statutory registers for MBM’s company secretarial clients and making all the relevant filings at Companies House.

In the firm’s Dispute Resolution team, Iain McDougall is promoted to Director. Iain has been with MBM for over a decade and concentrates on commercial disputes and financial services disputes. Iain is an experienced litigator and a regular speaker at MBM events, with a keen interest in intellectual property disputes.

Jamie Apted is promoted to Senior Associate. Jamie works in commercial litigation with a particular focus on cross-border disputes, service and enforcement issues.  Jamie was winner of the Rising Star of the Year 2019 at the Scottish Legal awards and was Lawnet's 2019/20 Young Lawyer of the Year. He is also ranked in Chambers & Partners Banking Litigation as an Associate to watch.

Also in April, Madeleine Macphail joined the firm’s Edinburgh Corporate team as an Associate.  Prior to joining us, Madeleine worked as an Associate in the Corporate Department at Shoosmiths, Edinburgh. We are delighted to have Madeleine on board.
