Gail Downes

Gail is the firm’s Managing Director and takes a lead role in business planning, strategy and the running of the business.

Gail has 30 years’ experience of working in professional services, of which 25 have been in the legal sector. She has worked at MBM since the founding of the firm in 2005 and has been responsible for heading up various different management functions over the years including business development, operations and human resources, before being appointed as Managing Director in 2022.

Gail broad experience has led to a wide-ranging role and principal responsibilities include supporting the partners on all aspects relating to the firm’s strategy and management and ensuring there is a pro-active central support team in place. Gail also acts as the firm’s head of human resources. She works closely with firm’s Finance, Business Development and IT Directors and takes a lead role in driving forward key projects to improve the client experience and operational efficiencies.

Gail is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Personal Biography

Gail lives in Perthshire and loves to be gardening, climbing hills or star gazing!
