Simon is a Partner and heads up MBM Commercial’s Banking & Finance team.
With over 10 years’ experience of acting for borrowers, lenders, and debt funds on a diverse range of local, national and cross-border finance transactions, Simon is able to provide extensive banking and finance expertise and support to MBM clients.
Simon acts for clients in corporate, leveraged finance and real estate finance transactions. He has worked on high-value, real estate financing and corporate transactions across Europe.
Simon joined MBM Commercial in 2024 from Shoosmiths, where he was a Legal Director in the banking & finance team. He has previously worked as a banking and finance lawyer at Addleshaw Goddard and Pinsent Masons and he trained at Anderson Strathern.
Simon is dual-qualified in Scotland and England & Wales.
Personal Biography
Simon enjoys swimming, cycling (especially mountain biking), trying to remember how to play golf and spending time with his family.
Legal Experience
- Acting for an alternative lender in providing development and investment term loan facilities to a hotel developer in Scotland
- Acting for an institutional lender in the provision of a £20m+ REF investment facility to a European based lender to fund the acquisition of a prime real estate asset in England
- Reviewing the suite of template commercial loan documentation used by a UK alternative lender
- Acting for a UK clearing bank in providing an investment term loan facility to a hotel operator to acquire a hotel in London;
- Acting for a corporate borrower in the refinancing of their multi-currency cross-border £41m acquisition facilities
- Acting for a national sports body in raising finance from bank lenders in order to continue to perform its regulatory and oversight roles
