Thomas has experience in handling a variety of commercial and intellectual property matters.
He has an interest in advising founders and their companies on corporate and intellectual property matters, including merger and acquisition agreements, licensing and franchising contracts, and IT supply and outsourcing.
Before arriving at MBM Commercial, Thomas received his Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne in Australia, and his Masters Degree in Competition, Information and Innovation Law from New York University in the United States.
Between 2013 and 2015, Thomas worked at Clayton Utz, a top tier law firm in Australia, as part of the intellectual property and technology team. He was later admitted as a solicitor and barrister to the Supreme Court of Victoria. By 2017, Thomas was admitted to the New York Bar and joined Fried Frank, a major New York law firm. In Australia and the United States, Thomas advised on various corporate and intellectual property issues in several M&A, corporate restructuring and financing transactions. He also advised on a variety of intellectual property disputes, intellectual property and technology agreements and diligence processes. He has engaged with a diverse range of clients, from private equity companies to start ups and community based organisations.
Prior to his time at Clayton Utz, Thomas worked as a volunteer for Justice Connect, a pro bono clearing house in Australia that assists the homeless with their legal issues.
Thomas is an avid traveller, and has lived in Melbourne, Amsterdam, Montreal, New York and London. He also has an unusual taste in music, often listening to tropical house, techno and alternative music. He will always hold a deep passion for his Australian rules football team, the Geelong Cats.
